Accident compensation won by Coventry school pupils
Personal Injury 04 Aug 2011

It has been revealed that two Coventry school pupils have been paid
accident compensation after being injured while in their respective educational establishments.
The Coventry Telegraph reported that one pupil sued their school after trapping their finger and received a £12,000 compensation payout.
Over the past two years, 25 pupils who attend school in the city have taken legal action against the city council after they had accidents at school.
However, injured pupils were only paid twice and almost half of claims have already been resolved.
"All of these claims are looked at ‘on the balance of probabilities’, if it is felt that the council have acted negligently the claim will be paid, if not the claim will be defended," a spokesperson for the city council said.
The body has paid out compensation to the tune of £14,176.41 and has settled 12 out of the 25 claims brought to it in 2009 and 2010.
In April, it was also revealed that last year teachers claimed thousands of pounds of compensation following assaults in the work place and accidents.
This money was given to professionals who were members of organisations like the Association of Teachers, the Times Educational Supplement reported.
