Builder given £1.2 million accident compensation
Personal Injury 25 Mar 2011

A builder who suffered a
work injury has been awarded £1.25 million
accident compensation.
The Oxford Times reported that in 2007 Dean Winstone, who is self-employed, was working on a property in Cornwall when he fell from scaffolding on the first floor.
Gemini Riteway Scaffolding Ltd did not admit liability but did agree to pay the sum to Mr Winstone and to pay his legal costs.
On Monday March 21st, the High Court decided to compensate him for the cost of his future care, lost earnings and his pain and suffering.
The incident has left Mr Winstone, of Hailey, near Witney, paraplegic and unable to work in the future, according to his
injury lawyers. He was in Derriford Hospital for over a month and then Stoke Mandeville Hospital's specialist spinal unit.
In addition, Reticel was last year prosecuted over a
work accident that left Colin Ball, an employee at its Stoke-on-Trent factory with a spinal injury.
