Personal Injury 15 Jul 2011

A
work accident has resulted in a cleaning products firm appearing in Nottingham Magistrates Court.
Revelholme Marketing Ltd (trading as Unic International), of Colwick Road, Nottingham, was found to have breached Regulation 4(3) of the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 during a three-day trial.
The firm, which manufactures cleaning products and solvent degreasers, was fined £5,000 and instructed to pay £18,000 in costs.
On January 2009, a person in the firm's employ, who does not wish to be named, suffered a work accident.
The incident occurred when he was loading a lorry with a semi-electric stacker truck and it fell on him.
As a result of the accident, the worker had to be hospitalised for more than a week and remained off work for almost three months.
According to the Health and Safety Executive, in 2009/10 there were 2,056 major injuries to workers in the East Midlands.
