Construction worker receives multimillion pound compensation payout
Personal Injury 07 Oct 2011

A construction worker who suffered serious injuries in a fall in Edinburgh has been awarded millions of pounds following a successful
compensation claim against Laing O'Rourke Construction Ltd.
Insurers for the employer agreed to provide compensation to cover his care costs starting with a £2 million lump sum, followed by index-linked annual payments for the rest of his life.
The worker fell 80 feet while working from an unsecured scaffolding platform while working on a new hospital wing of the Royal Victoria Infirmary.
The man, who cannot be identified following a court order, suffered severe head injuries and damage to both of his legs, but has "made a brave first of the hand fate dealt him", barrister Jonathan Watt-Pringle QC claimed.
Earlier this week, Jack Sutton received £54,000 in compensation from Syston Rugby Football Club Ltd after he suffered a fracture of the right knee cap caused by a hidden plastic boundary marker that had not been removed during the pre-match pitch inspection.
