Council pays £7,000 compensation claim to schoolboy
Personal Injury 06 Jul 2011

A schoolboy had £7,000 paid to him after making a
compensation claim to Brighton and Hove City Council.
The unnamed youngster was awarded the sum after an incident in which he fell into a disused air raid shelter, which he encountered after climbing over a school fence to find a lost ball.
In addition, the council confirmed that
injury compensation to the tune of £3,100 was awarded to another school child after he was in a playing field and fell down an open manhole cover, the Argus reported.
A council spokesman said: "Compensation claims against the council are dealt with by our insurers in liaison with the council's insurance team. Each claim is assessed on its own merits and we do not comment on individual claims."
In another
accident injury case, a woman referred to as Mrs P was paid £100,000 after having an "inappropriate" operation almost three decades ago, the Lincolnshire Echo reported.
