Crash victim awarded £1m road accident compensation

Personal Injury 05 Apr 2011

Mr Douglas's road traffic accident caused him long-term physical and psychological harm. A musician from Oxfordshire has been awarded £1.1 million for severe injuries he sustained in a road traffic accident six years ago.

Tavenor Douglas, 41, from Henley, had been seeking £5 million in road accident compensation from the insurers of the driver involved in the crash, which occurred in January 2005, the Henley Standard reported.

Mr Douglas suffered injuries to his skull, face, eyes, spine and pelvis, as well as being left brain damaged. The road traffic accident also caused him long-term psychological harm.

His solicitor John Reid told the newspaper: "My client has spent the last six years living with a legacy of his devastating injuries, which will be with him for the rest of his life."

He went on to say that Mr Douglas's road accident compensation would help him "focus on finding a future that will enable him to get the most from life".

Last month, the Oxford Times reported how a builder who suffered a serious work injury had been awarded £1.25 million accident compensation.
