Firm fined after man suffers accident injury
Personal Injury 14 Apr 2011

A company has been prosecuted after one of its employees suffered a
work injury in which they broke their back.
Leeds Magistrates Court heard that Fluetech Ltd, of Drakes Industrial Estate, Halifax, had committed three health and safety offences.
The firm was fined £13,500 and instructed to pay £3,873 in costs.
Health and Safety Executive inspector David Welsh said: "The company was very poor at assessing and managing the risks of working at heights. Anyone who works in the construction industry knows that falls are the commonest cause of death and serious injury in the workplace."
The
work accident happened on February 19th last year when an employee of the firm, who does not want to be named, fell off the roof of a house in Leeds.
Only last month another company from Cambridgeshire, Balsham Buildings Ltd, was fined £14,000 at Watford Magistrates Court after one if its workers fell from height.
