Two firms have appeared in court after a worker suffered an
accident injury that left him with a damaged hand.
KSR (UK) Ltd admitted that it had breached Regulation 11 of the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998. As a result it was instructed to pay costs of £8,000 and fined £3,000.
At the same time Non-Flam (Sawdust) Co Ltd – which had the same director as KSR UK Ltd – admitted that it had breached Section 2 (1) of the Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974.
The firm was fined £1,000 and instructed to pay costs of £8,000 in Redditch Magistrates Court.
The
work accident occurred on October 29th 2008 when an unnamed Non-Flam (Sawdust) Co Ltd employee was told to work for KSR (UK) Ltd.
He was using a carding machine when his hand was trapped between the unit's two rotating rollers, leaving him with severe injuries.
In May The Crimped Paper Works Limited was fined at Burton Magistrates Court after one of its workers, David Millband, injured his hand in a machine.
