Great-grandmother wins compensation claim
Personal Injury 11 Apr 2011
Accident compensation has been paid to a great-grandmother in West Bromwich in an out-of-court settlement after she was hurt while riding a bus.
Compensation lawyers won Doreen Tyler, 82, £25,000 in damages after a bus driver moved their vehicle while the pensioner was dismounting. The incident in March 2009 in Wednesbury left her injured and forced her to remain in her home for six months.
"I was really sprightly for my age before the accident ... Now I have to rely on the Ring and Ride service to get me from place to place ... as even the short walk to my normal bus stop is too much for me." Ms Tyler said.
She plans to use the cash she has received to fund alterations to her property, which it requires as a result of the incident.
In addition, in another
road traffic accident Anthony Smith, 85, was struck by a reversing vehicle in 2008 and was awarded compensation.
