Horse rider wins road traffic accident compensation

A teenage horse rider has won
accident compensation after her horse was involved in a
road traffic accident with a van, injuring the youth.
An Appeal Court has now ruled that Sally Stoddart – who was 14 at the time of the accident – will get a £90,000 payout, the Sunderland Echo reported.
London’s Civil Appeal Court this week dismissed an appeal from Joseph Perucca, whose van collided with the horse, saying that both Mr Perucca and Ms Stoddart were equally to blame for the incident, as a county court judge had earlier ruled.
In June 2002, Ms Stoddart was riding her horse Trigger when the pair were involved in a collision with Mr Perucca's van on Burdon Lane, Sunderland.
Last year, another woman who was involved in a road traffic accident received £280,000 of personal
injury compensation. Doris Barrera-Torrico was on her bike when she was involved in a collision with two lorries in London which a court ruled was 70:30 the drivers fault.
