Injured player wins £54k in compensation from rugby club
Personal Injury 06 Oct 2011

A player injured on the grounds of a Leicestershire rugby club has made a successful
compensation claim for £54,000 following an accident.
Jack Sutton received the sum after he suffered a serious and disabling fracture of the right knee cap after striking a broken, hidden plastic boundary marker used in cricket matches, the Telegraph has reported.
The injury ended the "fast player of ability's" rugby career and he sued Syston Rugby Football Club Ltd claiming that it was negligent in failing to carry out a thorough pre-match pitch inspection.
Nicholas George, who was representing Mr Sutton, said that the club had failed to reach the required standard of care.
He said: "I don't seek to assert there has to be an inch-by-inch combing of the playing surface, but a simple walk around the perimeter is manifestly insufficient. That is woeful."
Earlier this year, Maggie Peabody was awarded £100,000 in compensation following a successful
medical negligence claim following a hip operation, the Coventry Telegraph reported.
