Injury compensation advice offered by expert
Personal Injury 24 Jun 2011

An expert has offered advice about personal
injury compensation to a person who freelances and was hurt in the last workplace they were based at.
A reader wrote to the Manchester Evening News saying that they got their foot caught when on a step that was covered with lino which had peeled away at its edge.
They then twisted their ankle and had to take time off work. The reader is no longer with this company but wishes to know if they are still eligible to claim injury compensation and how to proceed with this.
Jonathan White, who specialises in personal injury, wrote that the person's legal entitlement to launch a claim is unaffected by their role as a freelancer and departure from the company.
Mr White said that the employer was legally obliged to make sure that the flooring and steps were in good condition.
Recently, a company was fined after one of its employees was injured in the workplace.
Mentha and Halsall Shopfitters was fined £3,000 at North Sefton Magistrates Court.
