Man wins compensation for road traffic accident
Personal Injury 18 Mar 2011
Compensation solicitors have helped a man to win a payout after he was seriously injured in a
road traffic accident.
The Press and Journal reported that Innes Mackie, a former taxi driver, received an out of court settlement from a farmer whose runaway trailer crashed into the 68-year-old's vehicle.
Mr Mackie, of Cowan Den, Turriff, received an undisclosed sum from John Baxter after originally seeking £115,000.
Solicitor advocate Malcolm Mackay said: "Although he did not get all of the money we sued for, it is rare to get the full sum claimed. He is now keen to try to put it behind him as best he can, but he will probably need more surgery on his knee and will have to live with the effects of this for the rest of his life."
The incident happened on October 6th 2009 when Mr Mackie was travelling on the A947 Aberdeen to Banff road taking two children to school. It left him hospitalised for ten weeks.
In another recent court case, Grant Parfitt received an out of court settlement after he was injured when he fell out of a moving taxi in 2005, the Bristol Evening Post reported.
