Pete Doherty manager's car crash victim granted compensation

Personal Injury 11 Oct 2011

Pete Doherty manager's car crash victim granted compensation A man who was run over by musician Pete Doherty's manager has been successful in his compensation claim and will receive a five-figure payout each year to fund his care.

42-year-old Chris Corder suffered severe brain damage when he was struck by Andrew Boyd, who was uninsured and received a year-long jail sentence after pleading guilty to dangerous driving.

Mr Boyd had been driving the musician's Daimler in 2009 when he hit the victim, who was delivering church newsletters in Hadleigh, Suffolk.

The accident resulted in Mr Corder sustaining "very severe" brain injuries and a number of bone fractures.

Hannah Rutherford, the solicitor representing the victim, praised Mr Corder's family for their support of her client.

She said: "The family have been devastated by the incident and are now just relieved that a settlement has been obtained which will ensure that he can be given whatever medical treatment or care is most appropriate."

Earlier this week, the News and Star reported that 29-year-old Jakub Sekuski had been ordered to pay £1,500 in compensation following a car accident caused after he had been drinking.
