Shop worker awarded accident compensation
Personal Injury 09 Feb 2011

A worker who received a
work injury while working in a shop has received a compensation payout with the help of
accident lawyers.
Elizabeth McLachlan was awarded £9,600 after the incident at the Early Learning Centre in Glasgow in October 2007, STV reported.
She was at the Parkhead Forge branch when she suffered a fall while lifting a toy from a shelf.
Ms McLachlan hired
injury solicitors to launch legal action against her former employer, as she claimed the ladder she had used had splayed legs.
She attempted to lift the toy tractor from the shelf for a customer when another work colleague struggled to reach it. However, Ms McLachlan, then 37, fell when she tried to move back down the ladder.
The Early Learning Centre has now admitted that it breached Work at Height Regulations, highlighting the importance of requesting
accident advice.
In addition, JKL Industrial Services Ltd was last month fined £5,000 after a teenage worker injured their hand in a machine.
