Woman awarded £500,000 in compensation
Personal Injury 19 Aug 2011

A woman from Newcastle has been given £500,000 for a
compensation claim after she had to spend over two years in hospital.
Angela Banks, of Heaton, received the £500,000 payout after medics at the hospital did not notice that she had an infection, meaning that she was forced to stay in the city's Royal Victoria Infirmary for 30 months while she healed.
She said: "It took months for my complaints to be taken seriously, but even since then I have had to be particularly insistent when it comes to certain aspects of my treatment. I hope nobody else ever has to go through what I have."
Medics confessed that they did not notice the infection in a pressure sore, which has now left Ms Banks with a scar, she said.
This month, seven-year-old Leo Whiten was also given
injury compensation to the tune of £6.6 million by the High Court after he suffered brain damaged while being delivered in hospital.
