Personal Injury 16 Sep 2011

A woman has successfully pursued a
medical negligence claim and received £100,000 in compensation following a hip operation, it has been revealed.
Maggie Peabody was left bedbound for a year and permanently disabled following botched surgery in which doctors severed a nerve, the Coventry Telegraph has reported.
The 51-year old told the newspaper that the operation ruined her life and changed everything about her.
She said: "I used to be so active, everyone knew me as happy-go-lucky Maggie. All I really want is to go back to being bouncy, happy Maggie again."
Ms Peabody was told during her recovery that the surgeon had accidentally cut through the sciatic nerve and that it would take her 18 months to recover.
She pursued a
medical negligence compensation claim and the hospital eventually admitted liability, settling out of court.
Earlier this month, a girl who was injured on a fairground ride after her restraint bar failed received £750 in compensation from the fairground attendant who was prosecuted over the incident.
