Personal Injury 16 Feb 2011

A woman who was involved in a
road traffic accident has won a compensation payout.
The 32-year-old got £19,000 after the car she was travelling in as a passenger on the way to Malton, North Yorkshire, crashed, This Is Hull and East Riding reported.
As a result of the crash, the Latvian factory worker, who has not been named, seriously injured her right arm and had to have treatment and two operations.
"The accident turned my world upside down. I was in pain and shock and couldn't work. At first, the insurance company put me under a lot of pressure to accept their offer of £3,000 and said I didn't need a lawyer. To anyone in the same position I'd tell them not to sign away their legal rights," she said.
Initially her insurance company offered her
accident compensation of £3,000 but she sought the help of an
injury solicitor and was awarded a higher payout.
In another recent case Colin White, a delivery driver, was compensated £500,000 after falling form a van in the workplace, the York Press reported.
