Woman wins accident compensation
Personal Injury 03 May 2011
Injury lawyers have helped a mother to win a
compensation claim after she was struck by an ambulance while in her vehicle near Redcar.
Caron Lake received
injury compensation from the North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) Trust at Middlesbrough County Court due to the ambulance driver's negligence, Gazettelive.co.uk reported.
Colin Hayden, who was driving the vehicle at the time of the incident, was found to be 100 per cent to blame. As a result, a deputy district judge awarded Ms Lake £6,000 and ordered the NEAS to pay court costs of £12,500.
The
road traffic accident happened on March 6th 2010 when Ms Lake, 49, was collecting her daughter from Kirkleatham Museum, where she worked.
A Ford Mondeo ambulance driven by Mr Hayden hit Ms Lake's car after he progressed in the belief that she was pulling to the right of the road, even though she was indicating right.
"We will review the full judgment from the court and implement any recommendations that arise as a result of this unfortunate incident," a spokesperson for NEAS said.
Only last month another victim of a road traffic accident, Tavenor Douglas, was awarded £1.1 million in court, the Henley Standard reported.
