Woman wins compensation claim for son
Personal Injury 10 Jun 2011

A woman has won a
compensation claim on behalf of her son after he was starved of oxygen while he was being born.
On Tuesday (June 7th), Nicola Ricket was awarded compensation as a result of the mistakes made at Kingston Hospital.
Her son, Alexander, five, suffers from cerebral palsy.
She said: "Our lives have been turned upside down by the actions of the medical staff."
Mrs Ricket added that her son was "severely disabled" and requires care 24 hours per day.
When she gave birth to Alexander, she had a difficult labour and staff at the hospital took an hour to start a caesarean procedure despite her mother expressing concern.
Jane Wilson, medical director at Kingston Hospital NHS Trust has now apologised to the family.
Anita Jewitt, the
injury lawyer representing the Ricket family said that they were "delighted" with the compensation decision.
In another case in April, London's High Court ruled that Callum Davies should have his compensation claim met by Gwent Healthcare NHS Trust, after he was brain damaged at birth.
