Work injury sees truck firm fined
Personal Injury 16 Jun 2011

People looking for
accident solicitors have been told that a truck firm has appeared in court after an employee suffered a
work injury.
JDS Trucks Ltd admitted in Accrington Magistrates Court that it had made two breaches of the Work at Height Regulations 2005, as well as a single breach of the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999.
The firm, of Blackburn, was issued a £9,900 fine and instructed to contribute £4,613 towards the cost of prosecution.
On December 4th 2009, one of the company's employees, who has not been named, attempted to step onto a ladder from the top of a lorry cab at the firm's garage and fell three metres.
Issuing
accident advice, Health and Safety Executive inspector Shellie Bee, said: "In this case, the incident occurred as the ladder was not secured, no training had been given and no safe system of work existed to complete the job safety."
Earlier this month Allenbrooks Developments Ltd was fined £1,500 after company director Keith Ragan received fatal injuries in a fall.
