The partner of the late Steig Larsson is contesting probate, claiming despite the fact her other half never got round to making a will, she owns his assets.
Eva Gabrielsson had a relationship with the author of the globally successful Millennium Trilogy for the whole of her adult life, but as he did not make a will, his father and brother took control of his assets upon his death from a heart attack in 2004, the Daily Mail reports.
In contesting probate, Ms Gabrielsson claims her long-term boyfriend was estranged from his family and that they are ignoring his wishes in taking control of his estate administration.
Younger brother Joakim maintains the family have tried to accommodate her, stating: "I feel we have done everything we can; we have offered her everything she wanted, but then she changes her mind and changes the terms."
Lovemoney.com recently warned not making a will could lead to unnecessary suffering, as such a move might stoke conflict following the death of a loved one, potentially leading to one or more parties contesting probate.
