Probate records reveal boxer's estate
Probate & Estate Administration 24 Jan 2011
Probate records that were released last week have shown how much a boxing legend has left in his will.
The will of Harry Carpenter, who was a BBC boxing commentator, outlined how his £448,000 estate is to be divided, those interested in wills and probate have been told by the Mirror.
Mr Carpenter, who died in March 2010, left most of his estate to his widow, Phyliss. The pair lived together in Sydenham, south-east London before Mr Carter died of a head injury sustained after falling down the stairs at his property.
The boxing commentator, who died at the age of 84, began his career with the BBC in 1949 and went on to cover hundreds of boxing matches.
In addition, last year probate records helped one woman find a treasured heirloom. According to the Scotsman, Stuart McKenzie of Inverleith discovered a 94-year-old ring while he was gardening in an allotment and used probate records to find the jewellery's owner.
