Probate records support hunt for missing ring

Probate & Estate Administration 29 Sep 2010

Probate records may be enlisted in the search for a ring left by an elderly aunt. Probate records could help a couple in their hunt for a family heirloom of great sentimental value, following the death of an elderly aunt.

Writing to the Daily Mail, the reader is advised probate records could help him track down an emerald ring that was left to his wife.

A 'standing search' on the Probate Registry would inform the family of relevant estate administration activities within the next six months, which could assist in following the movements of bequeathed items.

One of the reasons the family is unable to recover the jewellery is that the deceased remarried shortly before her death, which might lead to confusion or disagreements surrounding the ownership of items or the rights of various relations.

World-famous writer Steig Larsson, author of the Millennium-series trilogy that includes The Girl Who Kicked The Hornet's Nest, may have his will contested in court due to disagreements over probate between his father, brother and ex-partner.  ADNFCR-3248-ID-800090108-ADNFCR
