High-profile case shows importance of wills and probate services
Probate & Estate Administration 14 Feb 2011

A case surrounding the fortune of an eccentric entrepreneur has highlighted the importance of wills and
probate services to people across the globe.
Tony Chan claimed that he was entitled to Nina Wang's $12 billion (£7.5 billion) fortune based on a will she made in 2006.
A judge in Hong Kong previously ruled in favour of another document drafted in 2002.
Mr Chan claimed the will the decision was based on had been forged and said he was entitled to her estate.
However, a judge at the appeal court said: "This court has no hesitation in dismissing this appeal."
Judge Anthony Rogers added he believed it was "a thoroughly dishonest case".
Ms Wang's significant estate included companies and high rise buildings across the world. Her high profile case highlights the important of using a trusted provider to help people make a will.
Legal expert Chris Partington recently told the Manchester Evening News although making a will is a "taboo" subject, it is an essential task to ensure their estate is settled as they wish after they die.
