Paintings left in will set to fetch over £100k
Probate & Estate Administration 09 Sep 2011

Two paintings left to a female worker in a will by a wealthy employer are set to be sold at auction for well over £100,000.
The two paintings - by 20th Century English artist Sir Alfred Munnings and 18th Century portrait painter Allan Ramsay – were given to the anonymous seller by businessman Charles Hepburn, for whom she worked for almost four decades.
Now the seller – who is in her 90s – has decided to auction the paintings at McTear's Auctioneers in Glasgow.
Brian Clements, managing director at the auction house, told the BBC that the gifts were particularly generous given the paintings' artistic and monetary worth.
"This was a quite remarkable and generous gesture by Charles Hepburn as both Munnings and Ramsay are extremely influential artists. The condition of both paintings is quite exceptional."
It was recently revealed that the estate of Amy Winehouse, which is to be distributed among friends and family, following probate and estate administration, is valued at an estimated £2 million.
