Probate services needed as 10% hope for inheritance windfall
Probate & Estate Administration 25 May 2011

The value of
probate services has been highlighted with the news that ten per cent of people are banking on an inheritance windfall from their parents in order to fund their own retirement.
Research by YouGov for the National Association of Pension Funds found that 50 per cent of people hoped that their pension would be enough to get them by.
Furthermore, eight per cent – or three million people – said that they were relying on getting lucky with the lottery to pay for their retirement.
Joanne Segars, chief executive of the association, said that it was "deeply unnerving" that a "flutter" on the lottery was part of their future plans.
"A financially secure old age cannot be left to chance. The only certainty is that many will miss the jackpot and wind up in pensioner poverty. But the fact remains that most people are not saving enough, and are in for a deep shock come retirement," she added.
Using probate services allows people to come to terms with the death of a loved one while leaving the lawyers to deal with their affairs, including inheritance and estate administration.
