Wills and probate advice given
Probate & Estate Administration 21 Mar 2011

A person with a
wills and probate question has been offered advice following the death of their partner.
The individual wrote into the Manchester Evening News to say that they lived with their partner for 15 years and both paid for household finances in this time.
In his will the deceased man said that his partner could remain in their shared house during their lifetime. However, the man's daughter provided her late father's partner with £5,000 and put the house up for sale when they realised that they could not afford to stay in the property.
The reader is now unsure if they are entitled to more of their late partner's estate than this, showing the importance of hiring a
probate lawyer.
Indeed, the news source advised the reader to visit a solicitor as they could be due to receive much more. The newspaper pointed out that people can use the Law Reform (Succession) Act to make a claim against a person's estate if they have lived with them for more than two years.
Furthermore, the importance of hiring a trustworthy
probate solicitor was shown by a recent case in which Guy Coat was suspended from his profession after taking almost 20 years to settle a client's estate.
