£2.5m charity will benefits National Trust
Will writing 06 Jan 2011

A charity will worth as much as £2.5 million is to support the work of the National Trust in Scotland, after an American benefactor donated the money by making a will.
William Lindsay gave the sum before his death at the age of 79 in Las Vegas last year, leaving his entire estate to the organisation when he passed away in November.
His charity will has been used to fund major projects such as a museum at the birthplace of Robert Burns in Alloway, Ayrshire, with other activities potentially supported by the generous gesture.
Inheritance can be left to a wide range of people or organisations and many individuals remember charities when they decide to make a will, with animal welfare groups in particular benefitting from such actions.
A spokesman from the National Trust described Mr Lindsay as a "long-time supporter and generous donor", saying he was interested in old buildings.
