Executor of will reveals £100,000 charity gift

Will writing 11 Nov 2010

The executor of a will has reported an unnamed benefactor left £100,000 to a local hospice. The executor of a will in St Helens has revealed a mystery donor left a £100,000 gift to a local third sector organisation.

Charity wills can provide much-needed resources and beneficiary Willowbrook Hospice says it is "honoured" to be remembered by the unknown man, The St Helen's Star reveals.

Fundraiser Nicky Saunders commented: "This is an inspirational story - one that we hope will encourage other supporters to think of Willowbrook Hospice when making their will."

Most of the proceeds (80 per cent) of the sale of the man's home will be given to the donations-reliant group, which is currently attempting to raise £800,000 to build a new day therapy centre.

Chief executive Neil Wright reveals a grant from the Department of Health falls short of the total needed, but notes the news from the donor's executor of will is providing a "real boost" to the capital fund.

Unbiased.co.uk recently reported 4.5 million Britons plan to leave assets to charities when they make a will.
