Fellowship of Professional Willwriters and Probate Practitioners 'seeks to improve regulation'
Will writing 17 Aug 2010

The Fellowship of Professional Willwriters and Probate Practitioners (FPWPP) is keen to extend its work promoting better industry regulation, by bidding to become the official Scottish regulator.
An England-based non-profit professional body, the group promotes strong parameters for industry members, in order to protect clients when it comes to the important business of writing a will.
Reporting in the Scotsman, one legal expert is in favour of better guidance for the sector, commenting: "For a legal service that has been in operation for centuries, it seems anomalous that it remains relatively untouched by legislation."
Those who choose to draw up a testament could be taking care of their family by ensuring assets are distributed equitably in the event of their death and guarding against potential disputes that could arise due to having no will or one that is poorly written.
An FPWPP goal is to become the regulatory body for probate practitioners, which may help ensure clients receive the best possible care when exploring this key area of law.
