Free will-writing advice raises money for hospice
Will writing 04 Oct 2010
Free will-writing advice has been offered by a group of solicitors in order to raise money for a local charity.
A number of legal practitioners in Scarborough took part in the scheme, which saw
free will-writing advice given in return for a donation to St Catherine's Hospice, the Scarborough Evening News reports.
In total, £10,465 was raised during
Make a Will week, which aims to educate people about the importance of drawing up a testament for trouble-free estate administration.
Several charities around the country benefit from the initiative, with
free will-writing advice raising money for a number of worthy causes, including the well-known organisation St Peter's Hospice.
Before the event, Jane Richardson, fundraiser for St Catherine’s Hospice, commented: “Solicitors kindly offer to make people’s will free of charge during
Make a Will week in return for a donation to the hospice, which is most generous."
And April next year will see the scheme take place again, giving individuals the chance to remember a charity in their testament, while ensuring friends and family are cared for in the long term.
