Frugal pensioner leaves £1.4m charity will

A
charity will made by a pensioner who lived on just £5 per week has bequeathed £1.4 million to organisations that care for animals.
Gordon Hardy, 83, lived alone since the death of his wife two years ago and the Mirror reveals he took £20 out of his estate each month, of which £9 was used to pay the electricity bill.
The
charity will names the PDSA, Blue Cross and Donkey Sanctuary to receive a share of the fortune and the lucky third-sector organisations declared themselves "incredibly grateful" for the gift.
Kim Berrington of the PDSA - which asks people to let the charity know if it is included in a will - commented: "Gifts in wills pay for three out of four treatments to poorly pets so donations are always appreciated."
Mr Hardy's trustees suggested the giver's wife Nora was an animal lover and the generous testament was in tribute to her memory, despite the fact the couple did not keep pets themselves.
