Professional will writing association 'to build trust'
Will writing 16 Dec 2010

A
professional will writing body has been set up in Cheshire and organisers hope it can help individuals seeking to make a will feel assured of quality work.
The Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) regional branch will include
probate lawyers and financial advisers, with a recent meeting being held to elect an inaugural committee for leadership and development, the Chester Chronicle reports.
Creating a group of professional will writing experts and others should counteract the trust issues arisen as a result of media attention on the small but serious problem of unscrupulous firms offering testament services, according to chairman Stephen Lawson.
He professed himself "delighted" the body has received "such an enormous amount of interest", indicating will writing services and similar estate administration practitioners are keen to develop the profession.
STEP was set up by George Tasker in 1990 and has more than 14,000 members around the world.
