Segway millionaire died intestate
Will writing 22 Oct 2010

Jimi Heselden, millionaire owner of the company that makes stand-up scooter Segway, died
intestate, it has been revealed.
The Sun reports the Yorkshireman - who originally made his fortune inventing an anti-blast device used by military all over the world - owned assets worth £290 million.
As the philanthropist died without
making a will, his estate will be divided equally between his widow and four children, according to UK law governing distribution of wealth.
Intestacy means individuals have no control over the use of their wealth after they have passed away, meaning special gifts they hoped to make or provisions such as donating to charity will not be honoured.
A former miner, he fell to his death while riding one of his company's Segway scooters, after accidentally reversing it off a cliff to make way for a passer-by.
Individuals hoping to dictate the use of their personal assets should consider making a will as the best way to ensure friends and family benefit as they would wish.
