Zsa Zsa Gabor's husband discusses power of attorney

Will writing 01 Feb 2011

Zsa Zsa Gabor's husband discusses power of attorney The husband of Zsa Zsa Gabor, Prince Frederic von Anhalt, has spoken out about having power of attorney over his wife's estate.

Prince Frederic said he has decided to sell the couple's Bel Air mansion to pay for the actresses' healthcare costs.

"I will not misuse my power of attorney. Whatever I do, I do in my wife's favour. Whatever comes in will go into her account," he told the Los Angeles Times.

Prince Frederic added that the sale would make sure Ms Gabor was comfortable and would cover her debts. According to the Prince, the house costs $35,000 (£21,697) every month to upkeep, which the couple can no longer afford.

The house is being offered for $28 million, although any potential homeowners have to agree to let the actress remain in the property for the rest of her life as a condition of the sale.

In addition, a recent case saw a woman abuse her power of attorney when she withdrew thousands of pounds from her grandmother's bank accounts. This Is Grimsby said that Zoe Berridge has been handed an eight month jail sentence as a result of taking the cash.
