Expatriates given free will writing advice
Will writing 27 Jul 2011

Those who want to
make a will before starting a new life abroad have been offered advice on how to go about doing so.
Ronnie Ludwig, a partner at an accountancy firm, told the Guardian that trust funds can be a useful mechanism when it comes to estate planning.
He said: "They allow a parent, for instance, to ensure their assets are only passed on to children when they come of age and are able to make their own financial decisions."
However, he cautioned that when people are overseas they should also look for advice from local experts there to make sure that a trust they have made in the UK is still valid elsewhere.
In addition, those who make a will in the UK will probably find that it is valid in almost all of Europe.
Despite this, people might still want to leave out any foreign property they buy from a main will and create a separate document for this building.
In addition, Adam Draper, of the Will Trust and Estates Disputes Team at a law firm, told the Daily Telegraph that those who have decided to make a will must carefully consider where they want their assets to go.
