Huguette Clark decides to make a will that does not include family

Will writing 24 Jun 2011

Huguette Clark decides to make a will that does not include family When heiress Huguette Clark decided to make a will, she left most of her estimated $500 million (£313 million) fortune to her nurse, Hadassah Peri, it has been revealed.

The nurse looked after the heiress for 20 years.

Ms Clark also left some assets to Wanda Styka, her goddaughter, as well as a foundation for the arts, the Bellosguardo Foundation.

In addition, Irving Kamsler, her accountant, and her lawyer, Wallace Bock, will each receive $500,000, although her relatives will not receive anything.

Ms Clark died last month at the age of 104 in a New York hospital. She was the daughter of William Andrews Clark, a mining tycoon, whose estate she received $300 million from on her 21st birthday.

However, last month family members questioned how Ms Clark's estate was managed, raising suspicions that her financial affairs could have been mismanaged. It is not known if they will contest the will.

The dangers of making a will and not informing family members of its contents was shown when Tony Curtis died. The Daily Mail reported that one of the actor's daughters had taken legal action after she was left out of the document.
