Local charities 'most likely to benefit from those writing a will'
Will writing 10 Oct 2011

Those
making a will are more likely to make a donation to a smaller, local charity than some of the bigger brands in the third sector, new research has found.
A study published by Remember A Charity has found that it is causes like wildlife trusts, hospices and ambulance trusts that are receiving the most money in bequests.
The Legacy Market Snapshot has found that these organisations are seeing the number of donations increase at double-the-rate of national charities.
Meg Abdy, director of legacy foresight, has highlighted the fact that these causes are seeing a rise in legacies at a rate of 5.4 per cent a year.
She said: "It would seem that today's legators are looking for tangibility, transparency and control – who better than local charities to satisfy these needs?"
Earlier this month, Myton Hospices announced that it will be running its annual
Make A Will Week between October 17th and 21st to highlight the importance of writing a will.
