Those looking to save money when
making a will by doing it themselves could cost their families large amounts after they die, it has been claimed.
Solicitor Stephanie Rose has told Get Wokingham that there are numerous problems that can take occur if a will is prepared by somebody who does not know what they are doing.
She said that it is one of the most important legal documents people ever write, making it crucial that it is accurate and well drafted.
It is important that people seek out professional help from
legal services providers in order to minimise the risk of any problems arising.
Ms Rose said: "We hear horror stories of people who tried to save a few pounds on their will but ended up costing their families thousands."
Recent figures published by retirement specialist LV= have shown that property is the most common gift parents intend to leave to children while preparing their will.
