Society of Will Writers: Check for will-writing credentials
Will writing 12 Dec 2011

Individuals planning to
make a will are being advised to ask for credentials when picking a will-writer.
Brian McMillan, director general of the Society of Will Writers, stated: "The consumer must ask for credentials, and stop simply choosing on price.
"A properly qualified will writer will cost more, but the consumer can expect to get more for their money also."
According to Mr McMillan, consumers should ask to see identification and proof that the person is a properly qualified will writer and belongs to a recognised trading body.
Many people put off writing a will because they are unsure of the process and how to go about finding a writer.
In a matter as important as the division of assets, it is important to use an established and well-known body, to ensure that the document meets the required professional standard.
By using a recognised body, consumers will have peace of mind that loved ones will be properly provided for in the event of death.
