Suzanne Mubarak hands over power of attorney
Will writing 23 May 2011

The wife of former Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak has handed over
power of attorney for two bank accounts to the authorities in the country.
Former first lady Suzanne Mubarak made the move on May 16th so that an anti-corruption organisation could access her bank accounts, which contained as much as $3.4 million (£2.1 million), MENA, an Egyptian state news agency, reported.
In addition, Mrs Mubarak gave a villa in Cairo to the authorities.
Mrs Mubarak decided to hand over power of attorney after she was ordered to be detained for 15 days over charges of corruption and accusations that she sought unlawful personal gain from her husband's former position.
Her husband's 30 year rule ended in February when he was deposed during an uprising by Egyptians.
Now a military council is investigating people who are accused of abuse and corruption.
According to judicial sources, the country Illicit Gains Authority has also discovered more about the former president's assets from Mohamed Hassanein Heikal, a journalist.
