Will writing has 'never been more vital'
Will writing 04 Nov 2011

Brits are being urged to write a will as a matter of urgency, following a survey which revealed that seven in ten people have not prepared a legal document for the division of their estate.
Brian McMillan, director general of the Society of Will Writers, stated: "I don't think there has ever been a time in our history when it has been more important to
make a will than it is today."
According to Mr McMillan, with more and more people in their second or third marriages it is becoming vitally important for couples to have a will to ensure that their assets go to the right people, including current spouses, children from different marriages and step children.
"There is a whole raft of things that can go wrong if you don’t plan properly," he concluded.
It is also important for unmarried couples to ensure that they have a will.
While changes to the law have given unmarried couples rights akin to those enjoyed by married couples,
intestacy provisions are still not equal on all matters.
