Writing a will is not tempting fate
Will writing 25 Oct 2011

Many people in the UK are afraid of writing a will, as they believe that it is tempting fate.
Research by unbiased.co.uk has revealed that over 29.5 million adults currently are without a will in place, causing concern among professionals.
Nadiya Virani-bland, head of private client department at Brethertons LLP, explained why a lot of people are more scared of writing a will than they need to be.
"People think that they are going to be tempting fate by doing it," she stated. "That is probably what it is and I don't think people are as aware as they need to be about the consequences of not having a will."
Ms Virani-bland assured customers that will writing is quite a straightforward procedure and is necessary to protect loved ones in the event of death.
More than one in ten people in the UK have not even considered writing a will, despite one in five Brits expected to leave over £10,000 in savings when they pass away.
Ten per cent of people believe that their estate will be given to the right people automatically without a will in place.
It is also important to update wills as circumstances change.
