Slip and trip claims
You may have tripped on a broken pavement, slipped on ice, or slipped on a wet surface, perhaps in a supermarket or restaurant. If this resulted in an injury, and you can prove that the owner of the property or land is at fault, you may be entitled to compensation. It is essential you get legal advice on what to do next.
Making a slip claim
A claim can be made against an organisation or individual, if they allow visitors or the general public onto their property when it is unsafe. Most property owners will have insurance cover to meet your claim.
If your accident has occurred on a pavement or road your claim may be against the local highway authority. Claims against local authorities are sometimes called Public Liability claims and claims for accidents occurring on private property such as shops or houses are known as Occupiers Liability claims.
If you have a trip, slip or fall whilst at work, or in the course of your employment, please see our separate accidents at work section.
