young film makers tackle tar sands

The Co-operative is taking action to stop Toxic Fuels expansion and to raise awareness of an emerging global trend to extract oil from unconventional fuels, such as tar sands and shale oil.

Such exploitation threatens global efforts to avoid dangerous levels of climate change and risks local ecological disaster.

As part of our Toxic Fuels campaign and support for the Beaver Lake Cree's fight to stop tar sands expansion, we are also supporting spOILt, a new film by a group of young film-makers looking to promote the issue of tar sands from the Dyfi Valley, mid-Wales.

Over the summer, the young film-makers will be blogging about their experiences whilst filming spOILt, what they've learnt and how they'll be getting the issue of tar sands to new audiences.
