Cranberry mulled cider

ingredients

14 whole cloves
1 orange, sliced in half
750ml (1¼ pints) The Co-operative Tillington Hills premium dry reserve cider
1 litre (1¾ pints) cranberry juice
300ml (10fl oz) sparkling water
200g (7oz) sugar
2 cinnamon sticks
200ml (7fl oz) The Co-operative Navy rum
Orange slices to serve
Fresh cranberries to serve

 

method

Press the cloves into the orange and place into a heavy-based saucepan.

Add all the remaining ingredients except for the rum and bring to a steady simmer until the sugar has dissolved. Continue to simmer for 30 minutes and cool slightly.

Stir in the rum and strain into a serving jug. Decorate with the fruit.
