Beauty tips & tricks

It’s time to dust off the fascinator and dig deep into your overdraft – the wedding season is upon us.

Whether you’re the one walking down the aisle, or you'll just be making the most of the free champagne, beauty journalist Katie Lucas has picked a few of her favourite beauty buys to help you on your way...

Body treatments and creams

Start your day off with the shower gel, £12, or bubble bath, £9, from EO’s new Rose and Chamomile Collection. Packed with a host of natural goodies (at quantities that really work) and no chemical nasties, these products smell divine, work wonders for your skin and leave you feeling thoroughly pampered.  www.forever-natural.co.uk

Personally, I sometimes find the fragrance of Lush’s products a bit overpowering. However, applying Lush’s Crème Anglais body cream, £25, is a real sensory pleasure. Packed with natural ingredients, such as shea butter, cocoa butter, almond oil and saffron, it leaves skin feeling ultra nourished.

As a beauty journalist, I’ve tested scores of fake tans, but I always end up coming back to Origins’ The Great Pretender and Faux Glow (£15 each) for a streak-free, sun-kissed glow.

Hair products

For shiny, smooth hair, that stays that way, try Aveda’s Smooth Infusion range. The Style-Prep Smoother, £18, is light, non-sticky and protects your hair from the heat of styling, while eliminating frizz.

If curls are more your thing, turn to the YOGI 3 in 1 Hair Curling Wand, £89.95. Its three interchangeable barrels mean you can create curls in a range of sizes, for a more natural look.

Makeup and perfumes

A gorgeously light, spring perfume, Sanctuary Spa Green Tea and Jasmine perfume is feminine without being too floral. £14.30

With six eye-shadows, a primer, mascara and eye-liner, the Too Faced Pixi Pin Ups Palette, £20.50, enables you to take your look from church to dance floor with ease. Just start your day with the lighter shades, then build your colour up after dinner.

Ensure your pout is up to the job, with The Body Shop’s Colourglide Lip Colour, £9, which contains a blend of marula, rosehip, jojoba and other oils to soften and smooth.
