There’s nothing nicer than having a home you can be proud of, but work and family life don't always leave us with enough time to do all the jobs we'd like to. If that sounds all too familiar, here are some quick and simple DIY jobs that will get you big results...
New taps
Replacing your old kitchen and bathroom taps with brand new, shiny ones will instantly give a lift to these rooms and will likely encourage you to want to keep these places spotless, so you can show off your new accessories.
New door handles
Just as new taps can add a bit of shine and sparkle to a room that’s lacking these things, so too can new door handles. Replace the handles on your doors, as well as on kitchen cabinets and bathroom cupboards and watch your home transform right before your eyes. This can give you a chance to put a personal stamp on your home and update a tired interior without spending a fortune.
Lick of paint
Give your hallway or bathroom a refresh with a lick of paint. This doesn’t have to be expensive or a big job, simply choose a bright but neutral colour and you should get a good deal if you buy from trade paints or ask your local hardware store for DIY advice. You’ll be amazed at the difference a lick of paint can make.
Clean windows
Although cleaning the windows inside and out is often a job people put off, or don’t bother with at all, it is a great way to let more light into your home (you’ll be amazed at how much dirt and grime accumulates) and your home will look instantly brighter and more welcoming to guests.
Re-grout the bathroom
This is undoubtedly a horrible job but so worth it, transforming an average-looking bathroom into one you'll be proud to let your guests use. Remove all the areas of grouting that have become discoloured over time and apply a mould-resistant sealant – remember that you will need to let this dry fully for quite a long time, so it's best done just before a holiday or weekend away.
