Star of the Harry Potter films Emma Watson has credited a school teacher for inspiring her to design fair trade clothing.
The 21-year-old, who shot to fame as Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter series, worked with Fairtrade fashion label People Tree to create her own ethical range, and says her interest in the environment started when she was very young.
“I had a very inspiring teacher when I was at school. I did a lot of course work on the developing world, Fair Trade and natural disasters,” Watson said.
“It really developed my interest and then I met Safia Minney, who’s the CEO of People Tree, and we had a really good chat. I want to make a difference. It’s really nice to contribute,” she added.
As well as becoming an A-list Hollywood actress, Watson has also modelled for Burberry and become a fashion icon for many after numerous, glamorous red carpet appearances.
